OB Ultrasounds

 An OB transvaginal ultrasound is an exam where it requires placing an ultrasound wand in the vaginal canal to look at the fetus during the first trimester. The vaginal approach gives you high resolution imaging.

There is no special preparation needed for this exam. 

An OB transabdominal ultrasound is a type of ultrasound most pregnant women receive during the second and third trimester. This exam confirms that the fetus is growing and that everything looks healthy. This exam involves placing a transducer on top of the abdomen. 

The preparation needed for this exam is to make sure you have a full bladder prior to your appointment.
